Local Processing
IntelliPoller 3 includes more processing
and memory capacity, allowing the
central IntelliServer to devolve local,
speed-conscious actions (such as
cabinet door locking control) to the
pollers. The extra capacity also allows
the use of extended cabinet features,
such as cabinet door displays.
Full control of all functions including
cabinet access remains with the central
IntelliServer; a local IntelliPoller cannot
be used to open cabinet doors without
prior authorisation from the IntelliServer.
Local knowledge
IntelliPoller 3 is fitted with an information
display as standard. This display allows
local engineers to do checks and
changes to the system without taking
the poller offline from the IntelliServer. It
is frequently the case that the poller’s IP
address isn’t known at the time of
installation, or changes after the
engineer has left site.

The local display and controls allow a local “smart hand” to set the units IP address from the front panel. At the same time he can make a visual check that all the devices attached to the poller are communicating and even check the power draw or temperature in individual cabinets.
Such ability saves the direct
and indirect costs of sending engineers
to remote sites to diagnose and fix
minor problems. The front panel display
is not a requirement for daily operation
and does not need to be permanently
accessible.
Improved Reliability
From adding a connector retention
system to the inclusion of watchdog
circuitry and remote hard reset
capability, IntelliPoller 3 includes a
number of new features that improves
overall reliability and resiliency.
